I was so afraid when we first wed
That you were the one who was nuts
Because you laughed then cried so hard
At any joke I made.

I feared that you were like my own
Beloved ones from whom I gave distance
For their having been to much like me,
Fearing the resemblance.

I saw to much of me in you, and I
Was terrified. But you have been
My sanity through so many years
